Lion Corporation (President: Masazumi Kikukawa) has been recognized for leadership in corporate sustainability by global environmental non-profit CDP, securing a place on its prestigious “A List” for a second consecutive year. Lion’s place on the list reflects its score of A (the maximum score), granted in recognition of the Lion Group’s water security action and transparency.

CDP’s annual environmental disclosure and scoring process is widely recognized as the gold standard for corporate environmental transparency. In 2022, over 680 investors with more than US$130 trillion in assets and 280 major purchasers with US$6.4 trillion in procurement spend requested companies to disclose data on environmental impacts, risks and opportunities through CDP’s platform. A record-breaking 18,700 companies responded.

In 2019, the Lion Group established the “LION Eco Challenge 2050” long-term environmental objectives for 2050. Aiming to realize a decarbonized, resource-circulating society, we are advancing initiatives directed toward solving issues related to decarbonization, plastics and water resources. In terms of water resources, we are working to reduce water usage throughout product life cycles, from raw material procurement to production, distribution, use and disposal.

Product use within the household by customers is the life cycle stage of our products in which the most water is consumed. Through our products and services, we will continue to encourage household water usage reduction going forward, promoting positive, enjoyable new water-saving habits for customers.

Furthermore, Lion endorsed the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) in May 2019 and began evaluations of the financial impact on its operations of climate-related risks and opportunities. Looking to the future, we will leverage insights gleaned thus far while enhancing our evaluations, considering response measures and advancing disclosure based on the TCFD framework.

Aiming to contribute to the realization of a sustainable world while developing its businesses, the Lion Group will continue working to reinforce its environmental, social and governance (ESG) activities.
